The Ancient Magus Bride Mid Season Review

The Ancient Magus Bride is something that am particularly attached to. After the disaster of Worldend (I can’t even with the ending of that series -__-), I was bummed out that I didn’t get a decent romance for the season. Then I discovered The Ancient Magus Bride as soon as it started simulcasting and immediately started watching new episodes every week.

I LOVE this series so far. It gives a bit of a “beauty and the beast” kind of vibe although Elia’s personality is a lot more pleasant charming than the hot tempered grumbling beast of fairy tales. The opening of this anime is gorgeous and I watch it every episode without skipping it. I don’t skip most anime openings or endings because I tend to find entertainment value in them. The music is enchanting and you can almost feel the Chise’s emotions flowing through it, from despair to wonder. The opening vividly shows just what kind of impact Elias has on Chise’s life the moment he enters it.

The romance actually has developed faster than I anticipated but not in a way that felt rushed. They were both lonely wanting companionship and they quickly found it within each other. I love how different they are from each other because it balances the relationship between the two. Chise tends to make decisions based on how she feels while Elia’s bases them on logic.

I’m currently watching the dub and I’m pleased with casting choices. I’ve heard Brian Mathis’ voice in a fair share of anime and he’s pretty good at bringing out a character’s personality. He plays characters of this type very well which is probably why he tends to land these types of roles. I’m fine with that. Put people in their strong suits. I’m not familiar with Dani Chambers, but with as much dubbed anime as I’ve watched, I’m sure she’s been in something I’ve seen. I love her voice and what she brings to Chise’s tone and voice inflection. I think she does it perfectly and it suits the character. And then there’s the man whose in everything and he plays a character that just makes me laugh. There’s no way it’s a coincidence but if it is, then it’s a pretty hilarious one. If you’re familiar on who the top dogs of dubbed anime voice actors are, then you probably know I’m talking about Todd Haberkorn (huge fan). He plays Lindenbaum (or Lindel), who happens to be the care taker of dragons…DRAGONS. Makes me wonder if he’s fired up for the final season of Fairy Tail this September. XD Anyway, I love what he brings to this character. Although at first I tend to think of Natsu Dragneel every time I hear Todd’s voice, it never last long. After a few lines, his voice becomes the voice of the character he’s playing and then I forget this voice is also used for my favorite loud mouth dragon slayer. That takes incredible talent. Leave it to Todd to bring a lot to a side character without overshadowing the protagonists. Bravo. (I might be a tad biased).

According to online sources it looks like we’re getting 24 episodes. There’s 8 volumes of the manga released and from what I read it’s still ongoing (correct me if I’m wrong tho!). There’s so much mystery and so much unexplained, I just want to watch more and discover what happens between these two and the world they’re apart of. Have you been watching Ancient Magus Bride? What do you think of it so far? Let me know in the comments!

I finally have a blog schedule set up, although a bit loosely. I’ll be posting first impressions, mid season reviews, and end of season reviews instead of individual episode reviews. It’ll make it much easier to keep up since I do have to work 40 hours a week. LOL. Producing content doesn’t make us money just yet! My Hero Academia Ep 25 Review

I was so excited for this episode and it totally delivered. I LOVE Bakugo and Todoroki. This fight was pretty cool but it wasn’t mind blowing like the fight with Deku. Not that it didn’t entertain of course!

I love how Bakugo demands his opponents be at their full power. He’s more insecure than he appears and if someone doesn’t give him their all in a fight, he feels insulted. He feels like he’s being looked down on. I’m curious where all that anger comes from. I’m guessing something happened to be that insecure. That’s not something that randomly happens. Well, in reality anyway, this is a fictional story lol.

The fight didn’t drag out too long. I’ve been reading the manga so I already knew how it was going to end. Todoroki is still struggling with his own demons so he wasn’t able to give his all this match. I couldn’t stop laughing over how pissed Bakugo was. He nearly got emotional though, that was interesting to see.

Things are changing for Ida now that his brother was taken down by a villain. It really showed how much super hero families put so much pressure on each other. At least with Ida’s family it wasn’t to the degree of Todoroki’s.

The awards ceremony was a riot. Seeing Bakugo chained up with a muzzle while he squirms and growls was priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing. The gold medal hanging out of his mouth was a nice touch. Oh, how I adore that kid.

I didn’t think we’d see so much one one episode but i was impressed with how well it was done. The pacing didn’t feel rushed despite how much was revealed in this episode. I didn’t expect for them to do Shouto going to visit his mom. My heart melted when he said the first thing he wants to do is save his mom! Gah! My heart!

This episode was a blast. I got a kick out of Bakugo’s angry teeth brushing. I couldn’t stop laughing! Did you watch this episode? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

Worldend Ep 7 Review

Now that Ctholly can’t really fight anymore since her body’s changed, she can’t seem to really figure out what to do with herself. Meanwhile, there’s more “leprechauns” in an air ship we’re shown. I didn’t expect that, for their to be more of them. It seems like the plot is thickening quickly.

Looks like romance is really starting between Ctholly and Willem, although, at the moment, it seems one sided. Ctholly is adorable trying to make him notice her with simple things as cooking and cleaning. It does seem to have an affect on her, however. I really wish we knew what Willem’s age is! I can’t remember if we were told or not. I’m guessing early twenties judging by his maturity. The butter cake scene was precious as well as the exchange between them. This anime really pulls at my heart strings.

We finally got to see the surface and see the beasts that took over it. It reminded me of a giant bug. The scenes were surprisingly violent. I did forget there has been violence of this sort earlier in the series, I just sort of forgot. We don’t get to see the girls fight to often. Anyway, thankfully the ship it was attacking happened to have those two leprechans. They killed the beast but seems they may be stranded on the surface. I’m anxious to learn more of the history of humans and how their “creation” destroyed them. At least, thats what I gathered.

Attack on Titan Episode 36 Review

There was a lot happening in this episode. Of course we started right where we left off as usual. They’re chasing down Reiner and the others to get Eren and Christa back. I was looking forward to a lot of fighting this episode, especially with Mikasa. When she fights, she’s fantastic. I can’t keep my eyes off her!

It was amusing to watch Ymir pull Christa out of her mouth but a little gross at the same time to watch her spit up Ymir’s saliva. Ew. It was cute how Christa didn’t freak out. It surprised me just how open Ymir decided to be towards Christa and how Christa didn’t hesitate to say she’d help her. I really love those two together. I’m trying not to get too attached to them though. This is a drama so, one of them could die. -.-

So the other titans attack Reiner and the others. It shows what different kind of titan’s they are. Still more questions need to be answered as to why they can turn into titans in the first place. I have a feeling that’s not going to get answered this season. Still considering picking up the manga. I might be able to fit in one more manga review after Fairy Tail ends (which is in 7 weeks).

When Mikasa gets onto the armored titan, the look in her eyes was absolutely terrifying. It was probably the scariest when she as peering between the giant fingers to see Eren. She was not going to hesitate to kill anyone who got in her way of saving Eren. There are times when I wonder if this relationship is healthy or not. LOL Dire circumstances living in that kind of world though so that kind of violence I guess is to be expected.

Erwin was absolutely bad ass in this episode. While telling his men to charge to rescue Eren, I was not expecting the titan attack. He barely flinched too and just kept telling his men to keep going! There wasn’t fear on his face, just determination and will. Of course as the titan runs off with his arm, dragging him behind him, you think he’s dead. Who wouldn’t? But nope. Right when when they make an opening to save Eren, he shows up like a bad ass and frees him!

This was an awesome episode. A lot happened and we got a lot of action. I was hoping to see more of Mikasa and I’m glad I got what I asked for! Did you watch the episode? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

Also…did anyone else notice the silly look on this horses face after the titan ate his rider?

W3xAuUc

I can’t get enough of that face. LOL

My Hero Academia Ep 24 Review

This anime keeps knocking it out of the park for me! This season has been exciting, emotional, and just fantastic. I’m always impatient for the next episode! I loved being able to see the scene when Todoroki beats Izuku again. Goose bumps every time! I can’t get over how well done the animation and sound effects are. It’s small things like this that make a great anime.

It was difficult to watch Izuku battle with himself emotionally after the match. I didn’t expect that he would have permanently damaged one of his hands. That’s going to be something that will always make him unique. The nurse was a little harsh with him but I was glad to see All Might still encouraging him and not letting him beat himself up too much. He did do something awesome when he saved Todoroki.

I was anxious to see the exchange between Todoroki and his dad. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed! I was hoping he would tell him off and he certainly did. I’m very excited to see how Todoroki’s story line unfolds. He’s a very interesting character to me and he’s one of my favorites. His quirk is just phenomenal. At first, I didn’t stop to think just how much power he could possess with fire and ice until that fight. We all know how hot and cold air meeting can dramatically affect the weather. All Might even used Todoroki as an example as to what would happen if he had been given the quirk instead of Izuku. He would have been the most powerful super hero and unstoppable. It moved me to know that All Might had been quirkless once too, just like Izuku!

The fight between Kirishima and Bakugo was fun to watch. I like both those characters so I was kind of rooting for both of them, even though Bakugo is still my favorite. I just have a thing for hot tempers. LOL Anyway, in this episode we got to see just how smart Bakugo actually is when it comes to fighting. He studied Kirishima’s weakness and didn’t hesitate to exploit it. The fight with Tokoyami was even more impressive. Bakugo is proving to be that he’s more than just a hot temper and brawn. He studies his opponents so he knows how to defeat them. This is an awesome talent he already has that will definitely be beneficial to his career as a hero.

I don’t have too much to say about the other fights. They didn’t really give me much of an impression but I was okay with that. It didn’t make the anime boring or anything. The fights were fun to watch in the moment but they didn’t make me cheer.

I admit I was not prepared for the drama that was unfolding with Ida and his family. Of course, eventually I knew some serious fights and episodes would be in the future. Now it looks like we’re starting to transition into a new arc and it’s going to be a dark one. I’m curious to know what that’s going to be like and how much character development we’ll get to see.

The fight we get to see in the next episode is going to be epic! Todoroki verses Bakugo? What a match up! It’ll be interesting to see how this fight plays out. I have a feeling Todoroki might use more of his ice half with Bakugo. I’m not sure how good ice can be at blocking explosions. That’s when I think Todoroki would use both his quirks to create an explosion of his own. We saw how big he could make one and it was much bigger than any of Bakugo’s we’ve seen so far.

Did you watch this episode? What did you think of it? Which fight have you liked most so far? Let me know in the comments!

Worldend Ep 6 Review

This was an emotional one. I wanted to know why Ctholly was having those nightmares and visions, now we know why! The fact those those fairies are souls that were from the dead, that’s awful. The fact that it was one of Willem’s former human comrades whose behind it, is even worse. Willem’s reaction was definitely no surprise. Those precious girls he adores were being used by someone he had once trusted. Regardless of the reasons, they were innocent children and definitely should not have been subjected to this. Willem brought up perfect points about what is it he would exactly be returning to on the surface. It had been 500 years since he had been down there and no one they knew was alive.

Seeing Ctholly struggle with her battle was hard to watch. She was trying so hard to fight but stay alive at the same time. She kept thinking about those butter cakes she wanted Willem to make for her. Despite the fact her mind was deteriorating from her previous life memories trying to return, she was so determined not to chase after those memories. This is just my perspective, but I think she was seeing it as there was no reason to remember her past. She didn’t need to know it since she only cared about the present and the future. That’s how I saw it anyway.

It was also difficult to watch Willem grieve over Ctholly’s inevitable deterioration into death. He was expecting she’d never open her eyes again. The pain on his face was very well animated. I appreciate good animation when it comes to male expression. I don’t know why but sometimes animation can totally miss the mark on expression with men. lol Of course, I totally fan girled when Ctholly woke up and started talking to him, telling him that he’s been her first for so many things, down to being the first man she ever fell in love with. GAH! I did not expect him to cry! The way he loves her is just absolutely precious. I was definitely crying especially after he told her “welcome home” and she just burst into tears in his arms.

Now we get to wonder what cost this came at when she fought that deterioration. Stuff like this makes me nervous, I really don’t want either character to die. That was put a damper on this anime for me. Are you watching this anime? What did you think of this episode? Let me know in the comments!

First Thought Mondays! Kado: The Right Answer

I was surprised and happy to find this dubbed already. Cameron and I had started it with subtitles but decided to give the dubs a try. Not a bad cast and it made it easier for me to take in the details of the animation.

You definitely don’t feel like you’re in a sci-fi anime in this first episode. At least for most of it. We get introduced to Shindo and Hanamori. We see their skills with working with people and Shindo’s talent for negotiations. There’s nothing super natural going on. It’s just a normal day in Japan. While Shindo and Hanamori are on a plane for a business trip, they spot a square object in the sky getting bigger. Eventually it covers the airplane and they get trapped into this large box. It’s huge, taller than all the buildings in Japan. This is where the first episode leaves you. It’s entirely jaw dropping because it was like you were watching a slice life anime one minute then suddenly you’re watching sci-fi! The animation is done really well. I’m usually not a fan of 3-D but in this anime it’s done pretty well. It doesn’t look too fake.

So I’ll add this anime to my watch and review list! Have you seen this one yet? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!
