My Hero Academia Ep 26 Review

I’m excited for this new story arc that’s starting! I have read some of the manga but I haven’t read this arc just yet. Seems like Deku is gaining some publicity and its a little overwhelming for him; for all the students it seems like. I was excited to watch this episode because I knew they would be picking hero names (I did read THAT part in the manga!).

I love how Midnight was in charge of approving the names they picked out. She was really into it. Picking your name is an important part of a being a pro hero so I can see why its essential you pick out a good name. You don’t want a shitty name stuck to you for life that you can never escape from. Have I mentioned that I adore Bakugo? I loved how he got teased that pros were probably afraid to recruit him and his response was just priceless. LMFAO. I also want to add I really love Midnight’s outfit. Looks like a fun cosplay. Haha.

The hero names were hit and miss. Some of them were like WTF? and others were too long. I loved Froppy! That one was cute and totally fit her quirk. Red Riot is another one I really liked too. Those names were great. We wont talk about “can’t stop twinkling” -.- . Bakugo keeps wanting to add murder to his name. LOL Cam and I couldn’t stop laughing. The rest of the heroes seemed to nail their names. Many of them were typical while some were unique. Then there’s Shouto. LOL Well, I don’t blame him for just sticking with his name. Uravity was cute, too. Really loved it. It makes sense why Ida didn’t take his brother’s. It seems like his mental state is a bit unstable which usually isn’t good with any kind of super hero.

I loved that Izuku picked “Dekku” as his name! It’s what everyone already calls him anyway so it made sense. He wants to be his own person. I like how he grasped the name and turned it into something positive. Well, we all know that’s gonna piss off Bakugo. Haha. Surprisingly, Dekku got recruited! And by All Might’s former teacher no less! I’m looking forward to what’s going to happen next with all the heroes and their work place experience!

I like how Dekku has fit in nicely with his classmates. In middle school he was teased and made fun of constantly. He got laughed at constantly. At UA though he’s accepted by his classmates. They’re all friends. He’s not an outsider.

I’m excited to see how this story develops. I heard there’s a lot of character development for Bakugo, so I’m looking forward to seeing that since he’s my favorite! Did you watch this episode? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

My Hero Academia Ep 25 Review

I was so excited for this episode and it totally delivered. I LOVE Bakugo and Todoroki. This fight was pretty cool but it wasn’t mind blowing like the fight with Deku. Not that it didn’t entertain of course!

I love how Bakugo demands his opponents be at their full power. He’s more insecure than he appears and if someone doesn’t give him their all in a fight, he feels insulted. He feels like he’s being looked down on. I’m curious where all that anger comes from. I’m guessing something happened to be that insecure. That’s not something that randomly happens. Well, in reality anyway, this is a fictional story lol.

The fight didn’t drag out too long. I’ve been reading the manga so I already knew how it was going to end. Todoroki is still struggling with his own demons so he wasn’t able to give his all this match. I couldn’t stop laughing over how pissed Bakugo was. He nearly got emotional though, that was interesting to see.

Things are changing for Ida now that his brother was taken down by a villain. It really showed how much super hero families put so much pressure on each other. At least with Ida’s family it wasn’t to the degree of Todoroki’s.

The awards ceremony was a riot. Seeing Bakugo chained up with a muzzle while he squirms and growls was priceless. I couldn’t stop laughing. The gold medal hanging out of his mouth was a nice touch. Oh, how I adore that kid.

I didn’t think we’d see so much one one episode but i was impressed with how well it was done. The pacing didn’t feel rushed despite how much was revealed in this episode. I didn’t expect for them to do Shouto going to visit his mom. My heart melted when he said the first thing he wants to do is save his mom! Gah! My heart!

This episode was a blast. I got a kick out of Bakugo’s angry teeth brushing. I couldn’t stop laughing! Did you watch this episode? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

My Hero Academia Ep 24 Review

This anime keeps knocking it out of the park for me! This season has been exciting, emotional, and just fantastic. I’m always impatient for the next episode! I loved being able to see the scene when Todoroki beats Izuku again. Goose bumps every time! I can’t get over how well done the animation and sound effects are. It’s small things like this that make a great anime.

It was difficult to watch Izuku battle with himself emotionally after the match. I didn’t expect that he would have permanently damaged one of his hands. That’s going to be something that will always make him unique. The nurse was a little harsh with him but I was glad to see All Might still encouraging him and not letting him beat himself up too much. He did do something awesome when he saved Todoroki.

I was anxious to see the exchange between Todoroki and his dad. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed! I was hoping he would tell him off and he certainly did. I’m very excited to see how Todoroki’s story line unfolds. He’s a very interesting character to me and he’s one of my favorites. His quirk is just phenomenal. At first, I didn’t stop to think just how much power he could possess with fire and ice until that fight. We all know how hot and cold air meeting can dramatically affect the weather. All Might even used Todoroki as an example as to what would happen if he had been given the quirk instead of Izuku. He would have been the most powerful super hero and unstoppable. It moved me to know that All Might had been quirkless once too, just like Izuku!

The fight between Kirishima and Bakugo was fun to watch. I like both those characters so I was kind of rooting for both of them, even though Bakugo is still my favorite. I just have a thing for hot tempers. LOL Anyway, in this episode we got to see just how smart Bakugo actually is when it comes to fighting. He studied Kirishima’s weakness and didn’t hesitate to exploit it. The fight with Tokoyami was even more impressive. Bakugo is proving to be that he’s more than just a hot temper and brawn. He studies his opponents so he knows how to defeat them. This is an awesome talent he already has that will definitely be beneficial to his career as a hero.

I don’t have too much to say about the other fights. They didn’t really give me much of an impression but I was okay with that. It didn’t make the anime boring or anything. The fights were fun to watch in the moment but they didn’t make me cheer.

I admit I was not prepared for the drama that was unfolding with Ida and his family. Of course, eventually I knew some serious fights and episodes would be in the future. Now it looks like we’re starting to transition into a new arc and it’s going to be a dark one. I’m curious to know what that’s going to be like and how much character development we’ll get to see.

The fight we get to see in the next episode is going to be epic! Todoroki verses Bakugo? What a match up! It’ll be interesting to see how this fight plays out. I have a feeling Todoroki might use more of his ice half with Bakugo. I’m not sure how good ice can be at blocking explosions. That’s when I think Todoroki would use both his quirks to create an explosion of his own. We saw how big he could make one and it was much bigger than any of Bakugo’s we’ve seen so far.

Did you watch this episode? What did you think of it? Which fight have you liked most so far? Let me know in the comments!

My Hero Academia Ep 23 Review

WOW!! That episode blew me away! It went directions I was not expecting whatsoever. The way Izuku was using his quirk was pretty predictable. He paced himself although I think he should have paced himself a little more. He definitely needs more training on controlling that quirk even a little. He still has no real control except focusing it to just one particular limb. I was cringing over him using broken fingers, making them look dark purple. AGH! Ow!! The fact Izuku was still able to throw punches was incredible!

Todoroki’s fighting wasn’t all that exciting in the beginning of the fight. Izuku was calling him out on it too and I admired that. Instead of taking advantage of the fact that his opponent wasn’t using his full power, he egged him on to use all he’s got. We got to see more of Todorok’s past and how he grew up. His mother was a piece of work. It’s too bad she felt it necessary to take her terror out on her own child! Anyway, I was trying really hard not to cry.

When FINALLy Todoroki unleashes his full power…holy…shit. It was absolutely incredible! That power is incredible! That last blast at the end of the fight was absolute mind blowing and the animation and sound effects were perfect! I reacted vocally to it and even got choked up at how incredible that scene was! THIS is why I love Shonen! That episode was just so fantastic. Todoroki is by far, my favorite character in the series…he ties with Bakugo honestly. Those two are my favorites! I can’t wait for the next episode! This anime is awesome. Did you watch it? What did you think of it? Let me know in the comments!

My Hero Academia Ep 22 Review

I was very excited for this episode! Ochaco looked so terrified to take on Bakugo and who could blame her? He was terrifying and he wasn’t going to hold back just because she’s a girl. I applaud her bravery though, stepping onto the stage despite her fear. She refused to take any advice from Izuku and wanted to just completely rely on herself. I know how scary that can be to try to do something completely on your own. It’s terrifying! I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be facing a fight against a guy as violent as Bakugo.

While Ochaco was fighting him, I was impressed with how she was trying to bait him to get a feel for how he moves and how big the explosions are. She used the debris to her advantage but he didn’t notice because he was too busy focusing on offense. One day, that’s going to bite Bakugo in the ass. Curious what he’s going to do about defense in the future. Explosions can’t stop everything. Anyway, it was pretty epic when Ochaco let the debris rain down on him like meteors. She really thought this strategy out. It was nice to see what other talents she had that she could add to her gravity quirk and her strategic thinking is definitely pretty good. I was impressed with how quick she was thinking despite all the explosions happening around her.

I really hoped she would win but Bakugo isn’t just all brawn. He’s pretty smart himself, impressively enough. Too many explosions just rattled her poor brain a little too much. Her determination was amazing. I love characters like this. I had to wipe tears when she was talking to her dad on the phone. I shed a lot of tears this episode honestly. Bakugo may have won, but I’m hoping he’ll lose a fight in the future. He needs to be humbled. I worry he’ll go evil. LOL

Now I have to wait another whole week for the next fight which I’ve also been waiting for! Todoroki vs Izuku. This is going to be ┬áhard one for me because I’m going to be rooting for both of them. I love both of the characters. If I’m going to be honest, of course I want Izuku to win. So far he’s managed to scrape by so guess we’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be able to win again!

My Hero Academia Ep 21 Review

We got a lot more fights in this episode. Ibara vs Kaminari was a quick fight. While watching, ┬áCameron totally called it too. “This will be over quickly,” he’d said and sure enough, it was. I love Kaminari’s character. He may be a little over confident but he’s charming. Ibara’s quirk was more powerful than I had anticipated. Students coming out of class 1B have been pretty impressive. It’s interesting seeing different types of classes and what kind of ability these students have since not all of them could be in the Hero course. Poor Kaminari, though. He didn’t have much of a chance. He got too cocky and didn’t use any defense! Dummy.

I like the small cut scenes they make to the stands where Izuku is taking vigorous notes on each student and their quirks. His dedication and determination is admirable and its interesting to see how his classmates react and admire that. I giggled when Bakugo was getting aggravated with Izuku’s muttering. I just adore Bakugo and his temper! haha. Am I the only one who loves this guy? Anyway, I felt for Ochaco and her fear. She has confidence in her abilities but she’s going to face Bakugo so I’d be just as terrified. 0.0

Ida vs Mei. Oh geez, where do I begin with this one? I was too busy laughing than really paying attention to any of the skills. We know Ida has the ability to move quick on his feet with his quirk but he didn’t get much of a chance to show it off wearing that extra equipment Mei gave to him. He’s so polite and follows the rules, it’s endearing. I like how Mei has completely accepted her role as a support hero and does her best to sell herself and her equipment. I like her quirk of being able to see far distances. That’s definitely a useful support quirk! She just didn’t care about advancing. She just wanted to be seen!

I was excited to finally see what Mina’s quirk can do. Not only is she strong and able to move quickly with her quirk, she’s smart and pays attention to the weaknesses of her opponents so she can exploit them to her advantage. I was never a fan of Yuga so it was nice to see him get put on his ass. That upper cut was brutal but glorious. Was not opposed to that fight being as quick as it was.

We had already seen what Tokoyami can do with his quirk so I was more interested in seeing Yaoyorozu could do with hers. I didn’t expect her to be so nervous but she was already intimidated by Tokoyam’s quirk before the fight even started. I think thats what put her at a disadvantage. She doesn’t have much experience thinking on her feet so that what cost her the fight. She was too busy worrying about defense she didn’t even notice he was shoving her back over the line. Hopefully this won’t hurt her confidence too much. I felt bad for her for how emotional she got. I could relate. It’s frustrating when you don’t even get a chance to prove yourself!

When we go back to the stands, we see that Ochaco had left and I wasn’t surprised. She was so nervous and struggling to hold onto her confidence as each match ended quickly. I sense some serious character development in the works which gets me excited. Deep rooted character development is the key to making a great story.

Eijiro vs Tetsutetsu. Nothing all to exciting about this fight. Their quirks were almost identical and they were evenly matched. Their personalities were the main differences between those two. If you watch the dubs, I find it funny that the same voice actor who played Gajeel of Fairy Tail also played Tetsutetsu…both characters have steel in their abilities. LOL. Makes me wonder if Funimation did that on purpose.

Ochaco is admirable because despite her lack of confidence she has determination to advance further. Her family’s happiness is what drives her and I can’t think of anything more heartwarming than that. She’s such a sweet girl and it’s cute how she struggles to be competitive. However, facing Bakugo is giving her more drive and determination since she knows he will be a tough opponent. He won’t hold back since she’s a girl (surprise surprise lol). I’m really looking forward to this fight. I love Bakugo, but I’m ready to see Ochaco humble him by defeating him. It’s time for Bakugo to lose and be humbled. Perhaps it will bring his temper down a notch!

The pacing of this episode was brilliant. I’m glad they didn’t drag the fights out. Gave me nostalgic memories of the Grand Magic Games in Fairy Tail. The fights that ended quickly made sense and it didn’t seem rushed. It was also nice to see how Izuku seemed to influence and inspire his classmates. They admire and notice his determination to win. His drive to win isn’t the same drive as Bakugo, who’s just selfish. Izuku has different goals. He doesn’t want to be top dog, he just wants people to look to him when they need to be saved. He wants them to feel safe and count on him to protect them. It’s wonderful and I just can’t wait to see the next episode! I’ve been waiting to see Bakugo fight for awhile now and I finally get to see it next week!

What did you think of the episode? Which fight was your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
