We’ve been streaming off and on all day, so it’s safe to say this is going to be an ongoing occurrence. I created my character and played my first quest. Wasn’t too bad and I didn’t faint! I made my character look like Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail, named him Natsu and then made my Palico blue, naming him Happy. XD Cam is a female and has a Palico named Peech, after his real cat, Princess Peach (we usually call her Peaches or Peech Peech for short). Anyway! If you’d like to see our streams, follow us on twitter and/or Twitch so you’ll be notified whenever we go live! Don’t be shy and feel free to message us in chat ^_^. We do want to connect with the people we’re creating content for! Hope to see you!
Cameron and I play Final Fantasy XIV Online so I decided I should start blogging about it. FFXIV is my first mmorpg. I went into it without knowing what I was doing. Thankfully Cameron is a 5 year WoW vet, so I had some back up. I never did understand how WoW players could get sucked into these games for hours on end. I didn’t understand it until I decided I wanted to try FFXIV. Six months later, I totally get it.
I started out as a healer and really thought I could be good at it. I was warned by Cam and a mutual friend of ours (whose already been playing for 2 years) that I was going to struggle. My first dungeon was the biggest blunder ever. The tank died twice and half the time I was running around in a panic. The guys couldn’t stop laughing at me, of course. Luckily, the tank was new too so they were very patient.
I noticed a lot of players in FFXIV are kind and usually pretty patient. It’s rare I come across an a jerk on my server. Most of the time I stuck with Cam and my friend while I tried to learn the ropes of being a healer. Some how, I made it all the way to Heavensward as a healer. I tried Scholar first. I remember the rush I felt fighting the first dragon as a scholar. It was a lot of pressure to heal and throw spells at dragon at the same time. I can’t say i was that good at it but some how I made it through without getting killed. I had so much adrenaline running through my body after that battle. It’s an addicting feeling. I was fighting right along side other players, working together to take down one enemy. It was awesome!
Halfway through Heavensward, I tried out Astrologian. Although, I did love it, I was starting to dislike being a healer. I switched to Summoner for awhile but I was getting tired of the long cool downs. I had my rotations down and I knew that was just how it rolls being a Summoner but I just didn’t like it. That’s when I decided to be a monk. My characters name is Khloe Dragneel so, why not, right? If you don’t know the name, “Dragneel”, just google “Fairy Tail”. Anyway, I went for it and was instantly happy with it. I quickly leveled the class up and finished the rest of the expansions as a monk. I even wear a glamour outfit that looks just like Natsu Dragneel’s. I don’t feel stressed playing this class like I did as a healer. I actually have a lot of fun now. Trying to be a healer was a bad idea. If your’e a newbie, don’t do it. LOL
This game is very rewarding and you feel like you are part of the story and part of that world. You talk and interact with the characters. You create bonds and you mourn when they die. Playing an MMORPG is like stepping away from the real world for a few hours and pretending to be this other person in this other world. You feel like you matter. I’m a shy person, not to mention socially awkward. This game makes me feel like I actually contribute to a cause, even if it is just a game. It’s a good feeling knowing your actions helped out someone else and that happens all the time in the game.
Now you can expect blogs of my adventures in Eorzea. If you play FFXIV, you can find me on the Leviathian Server. Cam and I have a guild called “Kelpie Tail” in the Mist Ward 9 of La Noscea. We’d love to make new friends so feel free to stop by if we’re online or leave a message in our inbox! We’re also accepting guild members. 🙂
Don’t forget to keep an eye on our twitch channel since we stream pretty regularly now!
Now we have a crack in the sky. I theorized this was Acnologia and while Wendy and the others began to panic as the crack increased, I knew my suspicions were probably right. Then of course, Acnologia’s arm comes crashing out of the crack. Seeing the blue pegasus guild deal with this horror while still morning over Ichiya definitely pulled at the heart strings. I really love Mashima’s story telling. He knows how to suck you in and love all the characters he created, no matter how annoying that had been.
Acnologia is absolutely terrifying. To think that failed to even wipe out his existence. It makes me wonder what’s happened to Ichiya and Anna. Did they really die? Acnologia survived but he does eat magic, so that might have something to do with it. That Eternal Flare attack made his destruction of Tenrou Island look tiny in comparison. Mashima did well to draw out just how large and terrifying this dragon and his magic is. I honestly can’t tell what town he’s destroying though. Is that Magnolia? Since Erza’s mother’s spell broke, I don’t know where anyone is anyone more at this point. lol Except for Lucy and them. I know where they are. LOL
After his massive attack, he makes Wendy vanish. This is curious and I’m glad this is quickly answered with in the next pages. All the dragon slayers start to disappear. This of course makes me think, what’s happened to Natsu? The image of Lucy sobbing his name ripped my heart out. In her perspective, he’s vanished from existence. The amount of trauma that she must be feeling had to be overwhelming. She has lost so many people close to her. Her parents, Aquarius, watching herself die, and then when Natsu disappeared for a year. Now she thinks he’s dead.
And then the next page….NATSU’S ALIVE! You have no idea how much his disappearance was giving me damn anxiety all week! I was so afraid Lucy was going to have to do something special to bring him back. Really was hoping for something different. Well, Mashima definitely delivered on that! So, Natsu is fine. He was just transported with the other dragon slayers to face Acnologia. This is going to be awesome. I can not WAIT for this fight!
With Lucy sobbing over Natsu’s “death”, I keep thinking what an intense reunion this could end up being when she see’s Natsu is alive. We did get a kiss between Haru and Ellie in Rave Master so whose to say we wont get one in Fairy Tail? And unlike Rave Master, Fairy Tail is an ecchi. *snicker* Well, anyway, I’m hoping this will lead to an eventual awesome Nalu moment. I’m biased in that regard I know. I enjoy the story of Fairy Tail itself too though and I love the fight scenes.

There’s a lot to say about these two chapters because there was SO much emotion that I’m still reeling from what I read. Sorry it’s taken me a bit to get this posted but better later than never!
In 537, seeing the moment between Mavis and Zeref was powerful. We waited so long for this, for the two of them to actually talk and for him to actually listen. Granted it took him until he was beaten down by his little brother to finally get a clue, better late than never I guess. Mavis’ words to him was really intense. She hated him but loved him at the same time. She hated him for what he did to her and her friends, but she loved him because she knows why he did it. She knows he’s been suffering for centuries. It was admirable and beautiful. I adore Mavis. Her kindness, understanding, and forgiving nature is admirable. I loved how she said exactly as she felt, releasing her anger and frustration, while still expressing just how much she loved him and what good things he DID do. God, Mashima really knows how to pull on the heartstrings. And I did not expect Markarov to come back!! I have mixed feelings on that at the moment but Mashima has yet to disappoint me so I’m going to hold off giving remarks on it until the manga is over. It was a great ending to Zeref and Mavis’ tragic story. Their love story was so incredibly tragic. It’s completely opposite to what Lucy and Natsu’s relationship is. That’s something I’m sure Mashima did on purpose. I’m hoping since Zeref and Mavis’ tragic love story ended in death, if that means Natsu and Lucy’s heart warming story will end in life.
Chapter 538 is one that is still haunting me. We see Lucy fixing Natsu’s book. She seems to know exactly what she’s doing. I paid attention to the details about her saying she had all the memories written of the Natsu they know. I didn’t expect Gray to be able to use his magic to remove what was plaguing Lucy but I’m glad he was able to. When the book started to disappear, I got emotional when Happy started to get emotional and Lucy grabbed him, holding him tight. They were so terrified of losing Natsu. God, so was I! Then that moment when Natsu appeared and Lucy’s face…gah! She’s in love with that guy, I don’t care what anyone says!
I was feeling relief when they were talking and bantering back and forth as they always use to. This was normal. This was typical Fairy Tail. Then, Lucy brings up to Happy about what he and Natsu wanted to do after the war. I find the look on Happy’s face curious when he asks Natsu if he wants to announce it. He’s got that mischievous look he gets when he teases Lucy that she likes him. Oh god…but when Natsu is no where to be found, my heart just dropped to pit of the earth. Then Lucy’s reaction had me crying of course. The devastation on her face and the way she screamed and sobbed for Natsu. All this sorrow, then we got to a scene of Wendy seeing a crack appear in the sky. I’m thinking that has something to do with Acnologia.
Back to Lucy and Natsu. It seems like there’s no possible way to bring Natsu back. Zeref is dead and the book disappeared. There’s no source. It makes it sound pretty depressing, doesn’t it? Well, being obsessed with Fairy Tail, I’ve reread and rewatched the manga and anime many times. Back when Lucy is being trained by Capricorn before the Grand Magic Games, she talks about primordial magic. She talks about how her mother told her it wasn’t something tangible, that it’s love. LOVE. Natsu and Lucy have an incredibly strong bond built with trust and facing danger together frequently. They’re the closest to each other than to anyone else. Lucy has already brought Natsu back to life on more than one occasion. There were times where he should have been dead but he heard Lucy’s voice, felt her magic and he came back. Her tears brought him back to life in the movie. Lucy is a very sociable, kind-hearted person. She’s known for her kindness and mercy towards those who have mistreated her. She’s made friends out of enemies. I theorize that Lucy possesses primordial magic and that will bring Natsu back. Don’t quote me on it but its what I’m theorizing. Primordial magic hasn’t been brought up much since the Tenrou arc though so I hope that doesn’t become a plot hole. >.<

Next Friday, I’ll be starting a mini series about the popular manga and anime, Fairy Tail. Each blog post will cover one particular character or lore regarding the Fairy Tail universe that Hiro Mashima created. All information will be based off of facts I’ve gathered from officially translated material. I will cover major characters as well as minor characters from other guilds like Pegasus, Sabortooth, and Mermaid Heel. I will even cover the dark guilds and their members. If you love Fairy Tail, be sure to watch for this series and tell your friends! I’m going to start from the very beginning which of course that means starting off with the founder of Fairy Tail, Mavis! I look forward to bringing you content and maybe even help you learn something new you didn’t know about the series!

Wow. That chapter was awesome! I heard spoilers that some fans were concerned but this would be the American audience mostly. I don’t know what the reactions are in Japan regarding the manga so far. Personally, I think English audiences tend to be too picky and petty. Then again, I’m very biased when it comes to Fairy Tail.
So, a lot of things happened this chapter. We see Natsu take Zeref down and it’s AWESOME. Some fans were concerned that it was too easy for him to just one shot Zeref. How is it a one shot? Natsu and Zeref have been fighting for several chapters now, so it’s not a one shot hit. They’ve been trading blows for awhile now. Natsu finally just won the damn fight. What’d you expect? There’s only ten chapters left! Eventually the fight had to end. I love how he left the rest to Mavis. The look in Mavis’ eyes were pretty depressing. I can’t imagine what she has to do now after all she went through. I’m curious if Zeref is going to go back to his old self and be full of regret.
Ichiya was not a character I was particularly fond of so the way he went out, I thought was pretty heart warming. At first, I felt sad that Anna was going too. I was hoping she would get to meet Lucy. However, it seemed fitting that she went with Ichiya to take out Acnologia. The final words she said to him, “You really are a handsome man” was a beautiful way for him to go out. My eyes stung and I found myself smiling. I see why Mashima shed tears for him. Mashima is really good with instilling so much emotion within you even with characters you didn’t really like. It was a fitting ending for him. I’m curious if they’ll do flash backs in the anime of all his antics like they did for characters in the Tartoros Arc. It would definitely add more emotion especially for those who only watch the anime.
I know some fans didn’t seem to like that Ichiya was the one to take out Acnologia. I’ve heard they expected Natsu to take him out in revenge for killing Igneel. Here’s the thing though. That’s not who Natsu is. He’s not a vengeful person. He’ll knock someone’s lights out to teach them a lesson, but he never wants to take revenge to the same level as his brother Zeref or even like Gray would. After all, who was the one who always talked Gray out of making stupid vengeful decisions like that? Natsu.
Mashima’s work is unique for a reason. None of his characters follow the typical tropes known in mangas. He avoids that purposely and that’s why I love his work. He did the same thing in Rave Master (if you haven’t read that, you need to. He got a lot of inspiration for Fairy tail from it). One of things that always disappoints me with typical stories is how they always have the hero lose his way at some point. Why? Why does the hero always have to lose his way to discover his destiny? I think it’s stupid. Why can’t we just get a character who sticks to his convictions no matter what? Why can’t we get a character who never gets swayed to be evil, no matter how dire the circumstances are?Yes, Natsu and Gray faced each other, but for the love of god, that’s because Gray wouldn’t get the hell out of his face! Natsu didn’t even want to fight him. He wanted nothing to do with him. He wanted to find Zeref. He told Gray this repeatedly while fighting him, to get the hell out of his way. I blame Gray. Damn you, Gray. lol
I’m excited for the next chapter. I’m curious what will happen when Lucy and Natsu reunite, and what Mavis will do with Zeref. What is your thoughts on this chapter? Did you like it? Were you a fan of Ichiya? Let me know in the comments and lets discuss!

Talking about Fairy Tail or anything having to do with Fairy Tail is probably the best thing in the universe to me. I’m obsessed, it’s my favorite anime and always will be.
It’s funny how I even discovered it. I’d seen it on Netflix. It was suggested for me because I had been watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (another masterpiece I love), but I never tried it for the longest time. I just kept thinking, “Whats with the dude with pink hair? Looks dumb.” Eventually, I caved back in 2014 and decided, eh, what the hell. Eventually I was hooked and fell in love with Natsu. Haha.
It was later that year that I picked up the manga, reading the chapters as they were posted online. The story is just fantastic as well as the characters. The story starts out very simple. Boy meets girl, girl gets dream, blah blah. However, you quickly discover it’s far from typical and definitely far from simple. Hiro Mashima was fantastic at making his character’s different from your typical tropes. For example, Erza is beautiful and talented, but good god she’s incredibly awkward in normal social situations. It’s the funniest thing to see. At first you think Lucy is your typical air-headed blond but quickly find out she’s actually very intelligent and good at problem solving. Despite her sexiness though, she’s clumsy as hell. My man Natsu has a hot temper, something that’s popular for characters in animes and manga. However, despite his hot temper, he’s incredibly kind, not to mention forgiving. He gives off the impression he’s a bit slow, until you see him adapt his fighting style in mid battle depending on what opponents he’s facing. Even if he can’t come up with a strategy he already knows, he’ll make it up as he goes.
Lucy – “When did you learn how do to do that move?”
Natsu- “Just now.”
One of things that can make an anime lose its audience fairly quickly, is fillers. Oh god those fillers. Bleach and Naruto are prime examples of that. Bleach is probably the best. I lost interest in that anime two years ago, even though I did like it. The fillers didn’t make sense, they started right in the middle of canon story arcs, and I heard how the manga ended wasn’t loved by fans either. I didn’t like how the author pitted popular ships between characters against each other to create drama. I’m not a fan of that story telling technique. Tends to get on my nerves. However, this is not the case with the two Fairy Tail fillers. We won’t talk about filler episodes, since there weren’t too many of those. The Infinity Clock arc seamlessly intertwined with the canon story line. Mashima also created that arc, too and didn’t hesitate to give us some major Nalu moments. I loved how the lack of celestial wizards in existence connects Yukino and Lucy. Sure, they connect in the manga without that arc, but the infinity arc made the bond more believable and special. There was nothing confusing about the arc. It wasn’t too long and it fit right between two canon arcs, connecting the Tenrou Island and Magic Games arc. I heard some fans didn’t like it but I absolutely love it. Could care less what they think. LOL The second filler arc was the Celestial arc that occurs after the magic games. I’ll be honest, it’s not one of my favorite arcs but it wasn’t horrible either. We had Nalu moments within this arc also. I loved how protective Natsu was over Lucy. Since the magic games, Natsu’s protectiveness of her increased quite a bit. Seeing her future self die probably created a bit of trauma for him. The idea of losing her terrifies him. Oh, my hearts melting. Gah! I praise Mashima for his great use of his fillers. They were well done and seamless between canon arcs.
Lets talk about that fan service. Fairy Tail is an ecchi. The fan service is equal for both genders. Natsu and Lucy both tend to strut around half naked. However, the fan service is done in a way that isn’t vulgar. The way Mashima draws the women is natural and beautiful. There’s nothing vulgar about the revealing clothes he creates for his female characters. It’s done in a way that you know he’s appreciating feminine beauty. The fact that Lucy always seems to lose her clothes cracks me up. It’s a funny gag that never fails to make me giggle. There’s some naughty bits of course with Lucy accidently sitting on Natsu’s face or her boobs in his face. Some part of her body always seems to land in his face. I love the fact it never makes him blush. Boobs, crotch, nudity…none of it phases him. He never comes across as a pervert either except the one time he covered Lucy’s breasts for her. That’s the one time I’m fairly certain Natsu knew exactly what he was doing. I know he aint that dense when it comes to the opposite sex. Prime example of that is when he’s telling Elfman and Erza that Lucy’s taking a shower, then asks if they want him to check on her. Takes him a second to realize why Elfman was telling he can’t do that, but when it clicks, he acts like any other heterosexual male. Haha.
I know some people seem to get frustrated with how slow the “romance” is developing between Natsu and Lucy. Here’s the thing though. Just because they ain’t making out and there’s no confessions of undying love, doesn’t mean it’s not there. They’re best friends. They don’t have to show constant affection like that to express they care for another. They have a deep bond and trust that developed over years of fighting together. They love spending time with each other, usually no matter what it is, Natsu just always wants Lucy around. If you’ve seen this anime, then you remember how he pouted throughout the Sakura Festival because Lucy’s was sick at home and couldn’t be there. She was on his mind the entire time. He sent a damn tree down the river for her. You don’t do that for a regular best friend. If that’s not romantic, I don’t know what is. See, my husband and I have a similar relationship. We’re affectionate at home but in public we’re best friends hanging out. Once in a while we may share a kiss in public but it’s rare. We don’t find the need. Personally, I love how Mashima has developed the relationship between these two. He’s done it naturally and slowly over time, like how it would happen in reality. Natsu didn’t even start being clingy towards Lucy until over 50 episodes in.
All the ships are clearly defined in Fairy Tail and I love it that way. There’s so many canon ships, there’s a ship type for everyone! Of course, Nalu is the fan favorite. My husband actually likes Gajeel and Levy. I have a sister in law who likes the idea of Gray and Lucy, but she doesn’t mind Nalu either. She just likes Gray more. Gray’s okay. Lol I don’t want his character gone but I don’t leap for joy and get excited when I see him like I do with Natsu.
I can’t express how fantastic I think Fairy Tail is. I wish it was bigger in America but anime in general isn’t big in America. It’s bigger than it used to be and you can usually find comic shops with plenty of anime and manga merchandise in them, but I mostly see Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball. I haven’t been able to do any manga or anime shopping recently at my favorite comic book shop so they may have more merchandise now. Last time I went (a year ago), they were starting to get more merchandise which was nice to see. They also finally had more manga volumes. For a while I could only find the volumes at Barnes and Noble. Thankfully they were the same price but I prefer to support the local business owner of my comic shop than a big franchise store. Fairy Tail is big in Japan, I do hear that a lot. The movie that just came out was selling out the special addition programs and they’re incredibly hard to find they sell out so fast. I can’t wait to go to Japan and check out the Fairy Tail merch in Akihabara! I will be streaming that live when we finally get to do that!
Any of you watch Fairy Tail? What do you think of it? Do you have a favorite character or guild? Let me know! I love meeting other Fairy Tail fans and discussing it!
