Food Blog: Fortune Udon Noodles

I had heard so many good things about Udon that I really wanted to try it for myself. Obviously we’re a few years away from our trip to Japan so I needed to find something locally. Winco has a little asian food section and we grabbed this by a brand called Fortune. It was refrigerated and in a well sealed package. The directions were pretty easy. You boil the water, then put the udon and the sauce base into it and let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. I did three. There’s two servings in one package so I split it between Cameron and I.

This was such a different texture of noodle that I’m not quite use to. It was different but not in a bad way. The noodles were very easy to slurp and they were chewy but not in a way that means they’re under cooked. It was a good chewy texture almost dough-like. I devoured my bowl. The broth was mediocre┬áin flavor. Mostly tasted like warm water with a hint of chicken flavor. It wasn’t awful by any means. The great thing about soups and noodles is you can add flavor to improve it. I think I might do that next time. This is the first time I’ve ever eaten this type of food, so I am an amateur when it comes to adding flavor to dishes. LOL That’s my husband’s expertise.

If you’ve tried this brand, let me know what you thought of it and if there’s anything you add to it to give it more flavor!
